Built by Shea Homes the makeover home and guest house project includes the Beam Serenity® Plus Central Vacuum System, the Beam Advocate® Power Team™ complete with central vacuum hose, electric power brush and cleaning tool ensemble and a Car Care Kit. Clinically proven to reduce allergy symptoms by 40 percent to 60 percent, the Beam Central Vacuum System is an indoor air quality enhancement to the home.

The recipients of the home makeover, Terry and Percy Piestewa are the mother and father of Lori Piestewa who became the first Native American woman killed in foreign combat after her Army unit was ambushed in Iraq on March 23, 2003. Terry and Percy were raising Lori’s children, Brandon, 6, and Carla Lynn, 5, in a trailer home in Tuba City, Ariz. Lori’s best friend, former POW Jessica Lynch, nominated the family for the television program and also assisted in the design of the Piestewa’s new home. The Piestewas are the series’ second family this season to have received a Beam Central Vacuum System. A Santa Fe Springs, Calif., family whose home makeover was featured March 28 also received a Beam Central Vacuum System.

More than 1,300 Shea employees and subcontractors, including Beam’s Scottsdale, Ariz., dealer, iWired, built and furnished the home in just seven days. The three-bedroom home and adjoining guest house were revealed to the Piestewa family April 19.
